2 Robin Day Forum Sofas for Hille, 1964

£25.00

The Forum was conceived as a distinctly modern and luxurious design. By exposing the structural framework that holds the cushions Day reverses the convention of the hiding the frame within the upholstery, echoing Le Corbusier, Perriand and Jeanneret designs of the 1930’s (Petit and Grand Confort).

The high-end design was produced for a relatively short period and ceased production in 1976. Although aimed at both commercial and domestic environments, its high production costs placed it outside the budget for most homes. As a result, examples from the original Hille production are rare and highly sought after.

The examples offered are rare Hille productions in rosewood, with an intriguing provenance, having been ordered by close personal friends of the Day’s, to celebrate their wedding. Single ownership from new and good original condition make these Hille examples extremely scarce.

H 68.5cm W 211cm D 81cm SH 39cm

Priced at £6495 for the pair.
